Dr. Rajesh Ransing and Dr. Meghana Ransing visited the Unipol foundry in Pune, India on 24th-25th October 2016. Uni-Pol is a global company and leader in Turbine Compressor Wheel manufacturing. It was a delight and a valuable experience to see and understand Uni-Pol India’s foundry process with Mr. Rege, quality manager, Uni-Pol, India along with Mr. Ranvir Singh Jaryal, quality manager, Jiangyin Uni-Pol, China.

Discussions on data capture, recording, and using in-process data for 7Epsilon analysis was the focus of our discussions. With the presence of experts from both foundries, the 2 day interaction was highly efficient and progressive with an in-depth understanding of in-process data.

I would like to thank Mr. Rege for hosting the 2 day visit to the foundry plant, Mr. Ranbir for joining us and giving us much insight into in-process data and Dr. Steve Leyland, Uni-Pol Group Technical Director, for his coordination with Mr. Rege and Mr. Jaryal for making this visit successful.

Uni-Pol India’s investment in automation and vision for process improvement has made it one of the best case studies for 7Epsilon. We look forward to working closely with them.

A big thank you to Dr. Carlos Olabe for inviting Dr. Rajesh Ransing, Associate Professor, Swansea University, UK for a guest lecture on ‘Clause 9.3 Management Review – AS9100:2016, ISO 9001:2015, What’s New?’ and Dr. Meghana Ransing as delegate at the 14th World conference on Investment Casting in Paris from 17-20th April 2016.

Dr. Ransing presented 'the bubble diagrams and penalty matrix' concept to visualize correlation between Zirconium and Shrinkage and an interaction between Zirconium-Boron to reduce Shrinkage defect. The presentation gathered a lot of curiosity from foundry process experts. The simplicity of the concept, yet its application to reduce defects and satisfy ISO 9001:2016 clauses was appreciated by the audience.
